Rise Above Paralysis
National Spinal Cord Injury Association - Greater Boston Chapter
A spinal cord injury (SCI) is a life-changing event for individuals and family members. The Greater Boston Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association (GBC) works to reach, inspire, support and empower those affected by spinal cord injury. From the moment of injury, GBC offers critical support, one-on-one services and access to resources.
RISE Program:
- Reaching out to those affected by SCI
- Inspiring the newly injured through role models and peer mentors
- Supporting individuals and families as they begin their post-injury journeys
- Empowering those with SCI to fulfill their goals and dreams
Early Intervention Program (EIP):
- Early intervention can give the individual injured the confidence to lead a productive enriching life post-injury.
- Services provided through the Early Intervention Program help people live long, healthy, productive and independent lives once they sustain an SCI.
- Education for the newly injured teaches them how to monitor their health and advocate on their behalf to healthcare providers.
GBC staff members all have SCI, so they understand what it is like to sustain a life altering injury, they understand rehab, and they know the medical, psychological, and social issues that affect those with spinal cord injury.
