Freedom. Liberty. Independence. Our founding fathers held these beliefs so strongly that they started a revolution to uphold them. Many of us take these rights for granted. But many people with disabilities still have to fight for these rights.
Independent Living Centers such as BCIL started their own revolutions in the 1970s by demanding equal civil liberties for people with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was a giant step in ensuring civil rights for disabled people under the Constitution.
