Are you someone with a disability who has had trouble accessing healthcare in the Boston area?
Have you found that the equipment in your doctor’s office is not accessible to you?
Have you been improperly transferred onto an examining table?
Have you encountered architectural barriers such as narrow doors or hallways?
Have you been denied use of an accessible inpatient room?
Have you received poor quality of care because of your disability?
Have you encountered ANY other barriers to access to healthcare?
The Boston Center for Independent Living (BCIL), in collaboration with Greater Boston Legal Services, have begun a project to address systemic barriers to healthcare access that exist for people with disabilities. We are interested in hearing from people with all disabilities about their experiences in Boston-area hospitals, as well as their affiliated medical centers, clinics and physician’s offices. Any interviews would be done in the strictest confidence and no information would be used without explicit permission from the individual interviewed.
