Advocacy Opportunity - Call Governor Patrick Today!

PLEASE support closing Fernald, an antiquated, obsolete institution for disabled people!

We must contact Governor Patrick in the next few days!

Less than 200 people with disabilities remain in Fernald, an outdated institution in Waltham that is in increasing disrepair. Fernald kept thousands of people with disabilities from living independent lives in the community for decade upon decade. BCIL member Sybil Feldman was forced to live there for over twenty years — and now she's in her own apartment and on the front lines of many of BCIL's advocacy efforts.

Keeping Fernald open will cost millions of dollars in the coming years — and at the expense, most likely, of community-based services for people with disabilities. Wisely, the state wants to close Fernald forever. But a judge has ordered it remain open.

Please contact Governor Deval Patrick, urging him to appeal the court's decision so that Fernald will close once and for all!

We need people to ask Governor Patrick to close Fernald and appeal the court decision:
- Call 617-725-4005 or 888-870-7770
- Go to www.Mass.gov and send an email from that site (go to "contact us").

For more information contact Evelyne Milorin at BCIL at 617-338-6665, x246.

THANK YOU!!!
